Ever notice how sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you simply cannot push yourself into being constructive? This is in large part due to inertia. You know, that law Newton came up with that states that an object at rest will stay at rest. This applies on a countless number of levels, including your occasional inability to get up and do what you need to do. But how would a person combat this? Well, it’s really quite simple - start with something easy and something doable, but something still worthwhile. For me, this is often the act of cleaning my desk, and I think if you try it yourself, you’ll get the same results.

Lately, as described in
The Importance of Happiness I’ve been experiencing a lot of powerful inspiration to get things done, but found myself bouncing between tasks a little too often to accomplish anything of great importance. Little did I know that the book I’d been reading, Never Eat Alone, by Keith Ferrazzi, would offer a solution to my roaming efforts. Keith’s book is all about how to properly form relationships with others, and how to use those relationships to help you to succeed at whatever you choose to do. I was enraptured from beginning to end, but there was one chapter in particular that I paid special attention to - the chapter about goals.

It’s getting close to the end of the second week, and I’ve already learned a whole lot; things about running, things about physical fitness, and most importantly, things about myself. It’s been really interesting seeing how my day-to-day mindframe affects my ability and drive to push myself. As I continue with this newly forming habit, I hope I keep discovering more and more about myself.

Recently I’ve been adding photos to the site to spice up the visual appearance of the site, but along with this added benefit, I discovered that stock photos gave more than just a pretty webpage; they gave me a ridiculous amount of creative inspiration.

“Eh, I’ll write an intro later…”
How many times have you said something like this yourself? If you’re like most people, it’s crossed your lips more than once. But how can you get started on something you keep putting off in the first place? Honestly, there are lots of different ways to get over that initial slump - the key is finding a combination that works best for you.

This story will be short. It was an insignificant occurrence in my day, but it was something accompanied with so much kindness, that I couldn’t resist making a post of it. It really shows how a tiny act can make a big difference in someone’s day.

I believe that inside every single person is an inventive genius just dying to be tapped into. Some people seem to be blessed with an ability to be endlessly creative, while others just can’t seem to be inspired by anything at all, but it’s really not an issue of natural talent. It’s very possible to initiate your own creative abilities, and below are 5 great ways to get you started.

Day 4
Having been busy during the day, I decided to jog at night. After taking a rest on day 3, I was more than ready to have a nice run. Much to my surprise, my comfortable running distance had increased by almost half! That being said, it should be noted that I’m not yet running large distances, so a 50% increase is no more than a quarter of a mile, but to me as a first-time jogger, this is an absolutely excellent start.

Earlier this week, my roommate made a comment about the way the Wright Brothers discussed problems with one another. I had no idea what he was talking about, so he went on to explain that at some point in the middle of their discussion, each brother would swap arguments, taking the role of the other brother! I really liked this idea, and thought that it was definitely worth giving some thought.

In my previous post, I referred to a friend of mine who is planning on entering a marathon. I neglected to include the fact that this marathon is simply a milestone towards the greater project of competing in a triathalon. This triathalon, hopefully, I will be taking part in as well. To prepare for this task I’ve been jogging for the past few days, and decided that it would be a good idea to record my thoughts each day. This way I can see my own progress and relay any important lessons to my readers. Best of all, now I have motivation to keep going!
